Before adopting one of our puppies, please review the following requirements.

1. A Safe and Secure Yard

The safety of our puppies is extremely important to us. Because Bernese Mountain Dogs are large, active dogs, we require adopters to have access to a secure yard where their puppy can safely play and exercise.

A fenced yard is highly preferred, whether it is a traditional physical fence or a properly installed invisible fence system. This helps protect your puppy from traffic, wandering, and other outdoor hazards while giving them the freedom to explore and enjoy outdoor activities safely.

2. Adequate Living Space

Bernese Mountain Dogs typically grow to between 70 and 115 pounds and require sufficient space to live comfortably.

For this reason, we generally do not place puppies in apartments or homes without access to a private yard. These gentle giants enjoy having room to move, play, and spend time outdoors with their families.

Homes with a yard provide the environment needed for a Bernese Mountain Dog to thrive physically and mentally.

3. Time, Attention, and Family Interaction

Bernese Mountain Dogs are highly social and form strong bonds with their families.

New puppies require daily interaction, training, socialization, and companionship, especially during their early months. We ask that at least one family member be available for part of each day to provide the care and attention a growing puppy needs.

Our puppies are raised in a family environment and deserve homes where they will be treated as valued members of the family—not left alone for extended periods.

4. Spaying and Neutering

Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, puppies purchased as family companions are expected to be spayed or neutered at an appropriate age as recommended by your veterinarian.

Responsible spaying and neutering can help support your dog’s long-term health and well-being while preventing unwanted litters.

We encourage all puppy owners to discuss the best timing with their veterinarian based on their dog’s individual development and health needs.
